Updates are often needed to ensure that the device and its apps run properly. Normally, these updates are done automatically. However, if you are experiencing VMcast playback issues such as a black screen where your broadcast loop should be, you may need to manually update your device.

Check for updates

  1. To see if your device has any updates, press and hold the Home (βŒ‚) button on the Fire TV stick remote for a few seconds. A quick access menu should appear covering the entire screen.

  2. Select "Settings."

  3. Highlight and select the "My Fire TV" option.

  4. Select the "About" option from the menu that opens.

  5. Press "Down" on the remote and select "Check for Updates."

Install updates

If the "Install Update" option appears, select it. Downloading and installing updates may take some time.

Important

You may have to repeat these steps more than once. You are not finished until you see the message "Your Fire TV is up to date." Once you see that message, you can return to the VMcast app to play your loop.
