We recommend the VMcast app for Fire TV as the best way to stream VMcast Loops. The app provides a low-bandwidth streaming option and automatically displays any loop changes.

Purchase or request an Amazon Fire TV Stick

You can purchase an Amazon Fire TV Stick directly online from Amazon or from many major retailers. You can also request a pre-setup Amazon Fire TV Stick connected to your account directly from ViewMedica for a fee.

VMcast usually works best on the current generation of the Amazon Fire TV Stick. Purchasing and using older versions of the Amazon Fire TV Stick may lead to decreased performance.

There are known issues with the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K Max. We do not officially support FireOS devices other than Amazon Fire TV Sticks. See other hardware options.

Set up the Amazon Fire TV Stick

Follow the steps given to you by Amazon to connect your Amazon Fire TV Stick to your TV and wireless internet connection. For additional information and support for the hardware, please view Amazon's Get Started Guide.

Search for the VMcast app

From the Fire TV Home screen, navigate to the “Find” option using your remote’s navigation buttons. Press the “Select” button on your remote. Navigate to the “Search” tile and press the “Select” button on your remote. From the search page, use your remote to input “vmcast” in the search box.

Important

Please type the whole word. Predictive search may not work.

Once you have input “vmcast” in the search, press the down navigation button on your remote to highlight "vmcast". Press the “Select” button to choose the app. It may give you results for more than one app. If so, highlight and select the VMcast app icon.

Install the app

Select “Download” and wait for the app to download and install. This may take a few minutes depending on your wireless network speed. When it’s done, launch the VMcast app.

Be sure you have the following to ensure a smooth setup.

  • Client ID

  • Stream Code

These were emailed to you when you signed up for VMcast. They are also listed in the VMcast Control Center of your ViewMedica.com account.

Sign in to the app

Once the VMcast app launches, use your Fire TV’s remote to input your Client ID number. Select “Next.”

Enter your Stream Code. On the fourth digit you will see your loop start to play if your stream is set up in the VMcast Control Center.

If your stream is not set up, you will see the VMcast menu screen showing all of your available broadcast loops. Select the loop you want to play. See our tutorials on setting up a new stream and how to build your stream layout for more details.

Note

Loops are built to play continuously. However, we recommend stopping the loop at night by hitting the ‘Back’ button and starting it again in the morning.
