Set up a new stream

When you first start your VMcast service, or add a new stream, there are some things you need to do to activate your stream.

Start by signing into your account on ViewMedica.com. If you don’t remember how to sign in, see our logging in tutorial.

  1. From your dashboard, click on the “VMcast Control Center” link. The Control Center lists all of the available streams that you can set up and manage.

  2. New streams are highlighted in gold and need to be set up to be ready to use on your device. Click the “Setup Stream” button. This takes you to the Stream Setup page.

  3. Name your stream. Use a descriptive name so you and your staff can easily find it. This is especially helpful if you have multiple streams, different office locations, or if you want to assign a specific user to manage this stream.

  4. Set your location. VMcast will use this location to generate your weather information. Enter a zip code or your latitude/longitude coordinates and click “Set Location.” Check the map to confirm the general area is correct. If so, click “Save.”

  5. Set other features (optional). You can set additional options here to further customize your stream.

    • Show Clock: Adds on a clock that is always visible to the top of your VMcast screen

    • Use QR Codes: Adds a QR code to the bottom right of your screen. Patients can scan this code to visit slide links and watch or share each ViewMedica video in your broadcast loop from their own devices. You must have an active On-Demand account to enable shareable ViewMedica video QR codes.

    • Avoid Overlapping Content: This keeps the top frame and logo area from covering the main broadcast.

    • Use Celsius: Changes all temperatures in the weather slides to Celsius instead of Fahrenheit (default)

    • Dual Language Repeat: This allows you to play ViewMedica videos in different available languages. See our separate tutorial on Language Options.

  6. When you’re happy with the settings, click the blue “Save” button. This brings you back to the Control Center.

  7. Build your stream layout. You will need to set a loop for the broadcast area. Click on the stream’s “Edit Stream” button to choose what will play on the TV. You can also set loops for the top, side, and bottom frames of the TV. See our tutorial for how to build your stream layout to help customize your VMcast.

Your VMcast stream is ready

You can preview your VMcast stream right in Control Center or send the changes you’ve made to the TV and watch it there.
