Note

Getting the device setup and up-to-date after a factory reset can take some time depending on your network speed and age of device.

If you have checked all of the common VMcast playback issues, gone through all of the other advanced troubleshooting steps and are still experiencing playback issues, you may need to "Factory Reset" your current device.

This will return the device to its original state. It will also remove all Amazon sign-in information and personal preferences from the device. An Amazon account sign-in will be needed to set up the Fire TV stick.

Factory reset your device

  1. Press and hold the Home (βŒ‚) button on the Fire TV stick remote for a few seconds. A quick access menu should appear covering the entire screen.

  2. Select "Settings."

  3. Select the "My Fire TV" option.

  4. Hit "Down" on the remote and select "Reset to Factory Defaults"

  5. Confirm and select "Reset."

Once the reset is complete, you will need to set up the Fire TV Stick from scratch. Be sure you update the Amazon FireOS and follow our tutorial on how to install VMcast on the Amazon Fire TV Stick.
