Create a collection menu

Use collections to create custom navigation for your content in the On-Demand player.

Start by signing into your account on ViewMedica.com. If you don’t remember how to sign in, see our logging in tutorial.

  1. From your Dashboard, click the On-Demand “Collection Menus” link.

  2. Click the “Create New Collection Menu” button in the middle of the screen, if this is your first collection. If not, you can create a new collection menu by clicking the “Create New” button in the upper right-hand of the page.

  3. Give your collection menu a name. This name will be seen in the ViewMedica menu system. Use a descriptive name so you and your patients can easily find it in your On-Demand menu.

  4. Click the “Build Your Collection Menu” button.

  5. Add content to your collection.


    Add ViewMedica videos

    Click the “Add Videos” button. Select “Video Subscriptions” from the dropdown. Open a library to get to your subscribed videos. Find and click on the video titles you want to add to your presentation. You can select more than one video at a time. Click the “Add to Collection Menu” button.


    Add your own video

    Click the “Add Videos” button. Select “Create Video” to add new video content or “My Saved Videos” to choose from your list of saved videos already created. See our tutorials on how to create a self-hosted video slide, upload your video to ViewMedica, or create a YouTube video slide.


    Add your own slides

    Click the “Add Slides” button. Select “Create Slide” to add new content or “My Saved Slides” to choose from your list of saved slides already created. See our tutorials on Creating a Text Slide or Creating an Image Slide.

  6. Click and drag the items in the list to reorder the content in the presentation.

Preview a collection menu

Click the “Preview” tab to review your collection menu.

Embed a collection menu

Select the “Embed” tab. Copy the embed code and paste it on a page in your website. You can also find the collection in your On-Demand player under "Collections" in your main menu. To learn more about the different code settings for embeds, see our tutorial on Customizing the Embed Code.

Customize settings

There are a number of settings you can change for a Collection. Update these from the collection menu “Settings” tab.

Title

This is the name of your collection menu and will be seen in the ViewMedica menu system.

Poster image

Set or change the poster image shown to the left of your collection menu. By default, the poster uses the first ViewMedica video in your collection. Otherwise, it uses your logo or uploaded art.

Playback Options

These options change how users can interact with the presentation.

  • Visibility: By default, your collection is set to be “Public.” This means it is available under "Collections" in the main menu of the On-Demand player. If you don't want the collection to be public, change its visibility to “Private.”

Convert Presentation

You can convert a Collection Menu to a Presentation or VMcast loop.
