Why am I getting a license error when I use the VMcast app on the FireTV Stick?

This error is caused by the Amazon Video application, not VMcast.

If you use the Amazon FireTV Stick to access VMcast, you may get a pop up that says "License Expired" or "Video Unavailable" with an error code that says "License_Error".

Don't worry! This has nothing to do with your VMcast app or subscription. This is a known issue related to Amazon, usually caused by the Video application.

You can clear this error by doing the following:

  1. Select "OK".

  2. Go to Settings (βš™) and click "Applications."

  3. Select "Manage Installed Applications" from the list.

  4. Find and select the Amazon "Video" app.

  5. "Force stop" and "Clear data" for the app.

  6. Restart the FireTV Stick.

If you continue to experience issues, please see our Troubleshooting VMcast articles or contact us.
